“The new XV950’s position in lifestyles is -fold. On the one hand, its ‘bobber’ aspirations manner it has a minimalist, less-is-greater fashion with out chrome sprinklings onto which Yamaha hopes it could tempt customers to spend huge on a unique range of accessories and aftermarket goodies.
“And on the opposite, that ‘overall performance’ bit of its brief is there to outdrag rivals from, say, Harley, and is introduced by using the use of a tweaked model of the belt-driven, air-cooled V-dual motor from the Midnight Star which affords more torque than electricity for internal town driving and a greater responsive journey. Everything else at the XV950, however, is new, along with the exhaust, tank and chassis.
“It is available in two forms, the usual £7199 XV950 or the better spec XV950R for £7499. The ‘R’ version consists of two paint jobs, matt grey or camo inexperienced, a buckskin seat, piggy-lower back dual shocks and ABS as popular.
“On the idea of this primary ride it ticks all the ones boxes, too. The XV (which is oddly called the Bolt within the US, but no longer over right here) handles well, sits readily at excessive pace and has greater than enough juice to roll through corners with a fly peppered smile (and floor pegs). See my full take a look at in next week’s MCN, on sale 31 July.”
