Spirit then created designs and engineering solutions to make this glorious retro street scrambler a reality.
MCN Senior Editor Richard Newland rode the bike and had this to say: "The riding position is so natural that it’s hard to accept how coincidental the success was.
"The W800’s bars are narrower, lower and more traditional than the wide MX-style braced bars fitted to Spirit, and while your feet and backside are in essentially the same places, the repositioning of your hands inherently moves your bodyweight to a place the W800 chassis didn’t expect you to be – yet it works beautifully.
"The steering is light, accurate and stable enough from the 19” front rim, helped in feel and grip by the Conti RoadAttack rubber - and the leverage from those bars.
"You feel entirely central to the bike’s stance, simultaneously on top of, and in, the bike."
