First ride KTM 390 Duke - MOTOR GERR

KTM’s latest version of its Duke, the 390, is currently being put through its paces near the Austrian firm’s factory in Salzburg by MCN Senior Road Tester Adam ‘Chad’ Child. The £4495 machine sits between the 125 and 690 versions and KTM are quoting 44bhp along with 35nm torque from its new 375cc engine.

Here’s Chad’s first impressions:

‘The styling’s really funky, which is typical KTM – very aggressive and aimed at a young market. It’s also very light. KTM is claiming it’s the lightest bike in the category at only 129kg, which makes it nimble and easy to ride around town. There’s even ABS which is great for new or inexperienced riders. Away from town there’s enough power to have fun with and, thankfully KTM has replaced the original tyres that came on the 125 version and which were made in India. This version comes with Metzeler Sportecs.”
